Helping at home
By the end of 3rd grade, children are expected to know all the products of two one-digit numbers from memory. These sheets mix every table from 1 to 10, so your child has to recall each fact rather than count up a single table.
Mixed sheets show which facts are still slow. Most children know the 2s, 5s and 10s first, and the 6s, 7s and 8s last. Order does not matter in multiplication: 3 × 8 and 8 × 3 are the same fact, which halves the facts to learn.
One way to help at home: have your child circle the problems that took a while, then practice only those for a few days. Strategies help with hard facts: 6 × 8 is double 3 × 8, so 24 + 24 = 48, and 9 × 7 is 10 × 7 minus 7, so 70 − 7 = 63. When a whole sheet feels easy, the facts are learned.
